Not an HOA parkway. City restoration. The flare is still the apron.
This note is about Sidewalk & Driveway Root Barrier on Arlington lots — not a copied service page. Pantego edge and South Arlington in zip 76010 are the streets we have in mind. Arlington’s trees are not all HOA live oaks. Fielder and south Arlington still have pecans on original laterals and city sidewalks that were never isolated. Viridian is the twelve-year parkway story. Lake lots add cypress and a water table that keeps surface roots active in August.
I-20 is the south run. We stock 24- and 36-inch HDPE because almost every HOA walk is that depth class; original ranches often want the deeper lateral panel. Landmarks crews actually use: AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, Lake Arlington, I-20, UT Arlington.
Arlington Fielder pecans and original city walks
Not an HOA parkway. City restoration. The flare is still the apron. That is the Arlington version of Walks & Drives: Cupped HOA sidewalk panels.
This is the volume job in Dallas–Fort Worth: a parkway oak or cedar elm, a 4-foot strip, and a sidewalk the HOA now wants flat. We trench the tree side of the walk, set vertical HDPE, and restore the parkway so the next inspection is about grass, not a grind.
Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney, Southlake — the planting detail was the same. A 15-gallon oak in a strip that will never be wide enough. Year twelve, the panel cups. Grinding is a maintenance move. Barrier is the building move.
Soil, trees, and housing stock in Arlington
Soil. Blackland Prairie clay through most of the city; wetter lots toward Lake Arlington A panel hanging in a shrink-swell void is not a barrier — we backfill in lifts so Blackland clay does not open a highway behind the face.
Trees. pecan, live oak, cedar elm, hackberry, bald cypress on lake lots A Highland Park live oak is not a Mesquite hackberry, and a Arlington parkway is not a Southlake estate plate. We spec depth to what we uncover.
Housing. 1960s–80s brick ranches, south Arlington two-stories, Viridian new-build walks original city walks, pecan aprons, lake-lot cypress, HOA notices in Viridian
Not an HOA parkway. City restoration. The flare is still the apron.
How we trench this pairing
- Panel count We mark every cupped panel and the tree that owns it. One tree can own four panels.
- Trench the parkway Vertical cut on the tree side of the walk. Stay off the walk unless a panel is already coming out.
- Set and join 24–36 inch HDPE, joints locked so a root cannot thread the seam at a driveway cut.
- Restore Sod, soil, and edge. HOA and city walks get photos if they want them.
Arlington dispatch pockets: Pantego edge, South Arlington, Fielder, Lake Arlington, Viridian, Entertainment District. Zips: 76010, 76012, 76013, 76015, 76016, 76017. County: Tarrant County.

Questions we get on this pairing
Should I replace the sidewalk too?
If the panel is already a trip, yes — replace or grind, then barrier so the next panel is not a trip. Barrier under a still-flat walk is the cheaper day.
Will the HOA approve this?
Most DFW HOAs approve isolation plus restoration. We write the scope so the ACC sees a finished parkway, not an open trench.
Do you grind?
We can grind as a temporary. We would rather install barrier so you are not grinding again in two summers.

- The Colony’s original oaks are in the heave window — 1970s walks plus Austin Ranch new streets. The original crop is due.
- Why Blackland clay makes a shallow barrier a callback — Dallas–Fort Worth shrink-swell opens a void at the face if you dump spoil. Depth and backfill in lifts, or you buy a callback.
- Joints are where cheap DFW barriers fail — A credit-card gap is a highway. Lock or lap every joint or you are buying a callback.
- Craig Ranch vs McKinney Square: do not copy the spec — HOA two-stories west. Historic laterals downtown. Same clay, two centuries.
- Grapevine Lake cypress knees are not a sidewalk-panel job — Drain the tree side or you built a dam.
